  Dr. Howard Dworkin, chief of Nuclear Medicine at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak for more than 30 years, passed away on Friday, Jan. 27, 2012.

In 1970 Dr. Dworkin helped start Beaumont Hospital's Nuclear Medicine Department and its residency program.

He held many titles over the years, some of which included president of the American College of Nuclear Physicians, chair of the American Board of Nuclear Medicine and representative to the American Board of Medical Specialties, president of Central Chapter, and president of the Socient of Nuclear Medicine.

Dr. Dworkin is survived by his wife Dr. Gina Gora; children Edward, Joseph, Paul, Steve, and Rhonda Smuda.

Dr. Dworkin was a strong supporter of continuing education for technologists and for SEMATA. He will be missed.
